Welcome to Wyatt Piano Studio

For many wonderful years I have been a performer and a teacher. Performing has been exciting and fulfilling, but it's teaching that has brought me the most joy. My hope is that every one of my students will assimilate the basic skills for learning music, that those abilities will become their lifelong gift, and that their lessons here are a joyful experience.

About Wyatt Studio, Annandale, VA

My studio includes students of all ages and abilities. Along with repertoire appropriate for each individual, I emphasize the building of basic learning skills, particularly sightreading and technical development. Sightreading is done in every lesson; daily sightreading is included in every student's weekly assignment. Our technical program follows the Russian regimen known as "Piano Olympics". Music theory is taught through workbooks and analysis of repertoire. Monthly group classes provide an atmosphere of positive peer interaction and a feeling of community within the studio. All students are encouraged to participate in our studio recitals as well as outside competitive and non-competitive events.

Students from the Wyatt Studio regularly win awards in area competitions, and many high school students have attended prestigious summer music institutes such as Tanglewood, Brevard, and Interlochen. Although it's not my main goal to train career musicians, I'm pleased that many of my former students have earned music degrees in Piano Performance, Piano Pedagogy, Music Theory, Collaborative Piano, Music Therapy, Vocal Performance, and Composition from such top music schools as Juilliard, Indiana University, Northwestern University, and Cincinnati Conservatory. Others not majoring in music have continued their music study alongside their chosen degree fields at schools such as Yale, Princeton, and Cornell.
